The Night The Lights Went Out On The Westside

or why I get to take a longer walk before bedtime. When the power goes out on the westside in July, the only thing to do is go outside to get cooler. We were a short way into watching the AllStar Game too, only the 3rd inning, when the power went out.
While out on our walk, we saw guys in trucks with ladders and what looked like a long hose, trying to fix the problem. She stopped to ask one of them what was the cause of the problem, but they were still trying to find out.
By the time the power came back on, it was the 9th inning and the NL had won their first AllStar Game since the 90's.
At least one of us was happy with this turn of events.

The Trading Post Store

After we left the car to be worked on, we walked into this little shop. There were all kinds of interesting things to look at and smell here. There was a little place with sand and some interesting rocks. If this stuff were outside, it would have made an interesting place to mark your territory on. Like Huck Finn, always thinking about lighting out for the territories ahead of the rest. I don't know if he meant marking them or not? Or just getting there before everyone else? Something else to ponder.
There were these necklaces made of feathers and beads. Of course, I would have liked to get at the bird those feathers came from. Don't think I'd encountered this type of bird before with blue and green feathers.
There was this drum also with a different smell and not one I had encountered before. Turns out it was made of buffalo skin. Long may he ride.

At The Mechanics

Get your motor running...at the car mechanics today. I didn't hear too much of that, although I did expect to. I got to meet the two men who work on her little white car. Very nice folks, happy to meet me, but no treats for me. Strange smells here, maybe it was the oil? There were cars off the ground without their tires, as they were some place else. It was an interesting place, but nothing here really makes me want to come back anytime soon. Snorts be with you, but alas, some place else.
