Day Care For Dogs

One day while out on one of our walks, we stopped into a place that was a day care for small dogs. There was a bunch of them hanging out in a big play pen that was corded off. Too bad it was corded off, because I would have liked to have met these dogs. Some were having a good time hanging out together, but others, not so much.

They did grooming here too. Now, I don't need any grooming, since I don't shed much, and am low maintenance. I don't want to end up with a bad fur day. Snort. Still, looks like it could be fun, just don't want one of those bows on my head when it's done. Too silly and frilly for me.

There's even pet massage here. I think I'd like that. Anything that involves getting your back scratched sounds good to me. You can get your teeth cleaned. I wonder if they teach you how to floss? And yes, they even have a spa.

Since I wasn't part of the day care bunch, I got to walk around the whole place. I'd stand up on my hind legs to get a better look and smell of what was on the shelves. There were fun toys and natural dog treats, and I even got a few treats before we left the place. I hope we get to come back here again soon.

Meal Time

Meal time...why is it what's she's eating always looks more interesting? Smells better. Looks like she's enjoying it more than I am eating the same old dry, round stuff everyday. What about a little variety? Baskin Robbins has over 41 flavors. For some reason, humans think dogs only need one or two. Go figure. It wouldn't be so bad if I could have some of what she's eating along with my own boring food. If only I could suggest that some how. Sometimes she gives me one of those dog treat sticks. They are okay, but not when she gives me that, when she's eating something that looks and smells better. I've tried making that sad...please feed me something else face, but so far it hasn't worked. What's a dog to do? Still trying to figure that one out. I know, be glad you got food in a bowl on the floor especially in this economy. Snort, snort.

At The Dog Park

Walking the dog, at the dog park. Some real characters here. That white, English Bulldog always barks when he sees me. Then, he tries to lunge at me. Good thing his owner is there and pulls on his big brown collar or he might have taken a few chews out of me by now. Probably jealous of my underbite. Sorry guy, but not everyone is born with it. I just got style.
Then there's this collie that has tried a few times to bite my tail. I must have an antenna on that tail, because I always seem to know when she's creeping up behind me about to take a bite like some big crocodile. Probably just wishes she had a short, cute curly tail like mine. Hmmm.
There is a girl who walks two black French Poodles who are so sweet, but they always back away from me. I know it's not my breath, because I had one of those breath mints. Maybe my big ears and large eyes scare them a little? Yes, I have to say, I may look too intelligent for some of them. Guess I'm too outgoing for them. Can't help it...dogs don't shake hands or paws with other dogs. There's no high five yeah, just want to go jump on them and let them know how happy I am to meet them or see them again. So, I'm a little gregarious, can't help it if I'm an extrovert and the life of the party and dog parks everywhere. I mean really. Snort, snort. They should be glad just to meet me. Give a dog a chance.

Laundry Day

What's that fresh smell? Sniff, sniff, snort, snort. Smells like Jasmine, no, wait, maybe it is...could it be...laundry day? That means fresh linens on the bed for me to roll around on. Love it!
Now she smacks her hand down on the bed, to get me to leave. Why doesn't she learn, I'm here now, I'm not going anywhere. So, I always have to smack the bed with my paw. This is a real tug of war. I'm too stubborn to let her win, but sometimes I give in.
Reminds me of that Blondie song, "Call Me," "Roll me in designer sheets,I never get enough." In fact, don't call me, just let me roll around in the sheets. Heaven for dogs must be like this.

Going To The Pet Store

At the pet store, where the people go when it's time for more food, kitty litter, treats, and sometimes, even a little grooming. Good thing I am low maintenance and don't need that.
Hello there little blue fish, how's it going in there? How do you think? Must get a little boring going round in circles everyday. No, not really, I stop once in awhile for latte breaks.
Really? No, water in the bowl totally distroys the foam on the latte. Not a good option. Has to be just right, you know. Well, catch up with you another day, my blue finned friend. I have to tell you, you look good in blue.

Still Out On The Walk

Hmm, hmm, this new box thing she added to my collar itches. What is this thing? Every step I take, it makes a click, click sound. Cody, Mr. Squish, all that kibbel you've been eating has made you gain weight. So she things I'm fat. I can't help it if I have these folds. I'm suppose to look this way, it's part of my cute appeal, that and my underbite. Most attractive quality along with my stubby tail. What's next, yoga for dogs? Why do I have to wear this thing? A pet petometer, counts calories and steps, very nice. I guess I'll be on the treadmill before too long. Sometimes we take off at a run, and I have shortness of breath..snort, snort. Good thing dogs don't smoke. I even have to stop and pull on the leash to get her to slow down and let me catch my breath and check out these cute red flowers over here. Geraniums.

Cody Moriarty Walking The Dog

Outside in the fresh air again. Well, hello gray cat. What's your name? Don't run away. If I wasn't on this leash, I could follow that cat. Reminds me of that old song where the guy was following a river. Can't remember the words...I'll make up my own.

Yoon River, wider than a cat's smile, I'm following you Twitter style...every day. Oh, bird chaser, you heart racer, don't run away, please stay and play, I want it this way.
Two grifters, off to the pet store, caught up in the whirl, going to take a tour, of all there is to eat, looking for a treat, and don't forget the meat.
Let's visit again, I'll be with you till the end, my catnip loving friend, Yoon River and me...ME OW. I wonder if I can get that version on iTunes for my shuffle?

Ahh, sunlight through the window, time to take a morning walk. Stretch-Why isn't she up yet? Please take me out now! Oh wait, she's opening her eyes and reaching, reaching, yes, for her glasses. She's up. She reaches out and pats my head. Now I really know it's time for my morning walk. Yipee!

Well, she's dressed and ready, but now I have to get ready. Let me take a line from that old Springsteen song, Dancing In The Dark, "I check my look in the mirror." This big door mirror will do. Tail and paws are happening, but I need something else. A few paw pats to make sure the fur above my eyes is looking just right. I hope she doesn't forget about me. Wait, what was that? I hear her calling my name, Cody, Cody, let's go for a walk. Here comes the blue leash that she snaps onto my blue collar right next to my silver dog tag. Again, she pats my head and this time, kisses the top of my head. Really, could a dog ask for more? I think not.
