Doing the Walk & Walking for a Cause

Walking...something I do everyday... a few times a day, but walking for a cause, now that's something I haven't done before.  Today we are walking for a cause...the heart walk.  There are a lot of people gathered here waiting for the walk to start.  We are at the Pier in Santa Monica.  Great place for a walk, we can see the ocean, smell the salt water, and listen to the seagulls.   Would love to be chasing after them.
Almost makes me want to be in the ocean, but not exactly, don't like getting wet.
There are some other dogs here, but we never get close enough for me to say hello and give them a sniff.  Even saw a Frenchy, this one was black and white.
Finally the walk starts...we are walking fast and move to the head of the pack.  This is good as we have more space.  At one point, we stop so she can give me some water.  Works for me.  Guess I looked thirsty.  Definitely needed water.  Then we are off again.
Finally we finish, back where we started...the finish line, back at the Pier.  Yeah, two paws up, snort.
A feeling of accomplishment.

A Dog's Eye View of the Dog Show

One thing I'll never have to worry about is being put on display in a dog show. I wouldn't make the grade, for one thing, because of my under bite.  Although I think that makes me stand out more.  Add's to my charm to look like I'm always smiling.  She was watching the dog show today, so it got me thinking...so glad I don't have to ever be in one of those shows.  This is for a number of reasons, they look under your tail, pick up your ears, push the sides of your face together, ugh-who needs that? Then there is the prancing around in a circle, all to go back to the same place where you started.  No squirrel or birds to chase after, no treats, so what's the point of that?  Can't see it really.  Do I really need a ribbon saying best in show?  I already know I am the best, so I don't need a ribbon to say that.  Snort.

Exercise

Okay, what's the deal with exercise?  I thought walking and chasing after anything that moves outside was considered exercise.  That's all I need.  So, I always pick up one of my loofah dogs and hit her on the back of the leg if she is doing sit-ups or on the ankles if she is doing crunches.  One day she gets the bright idea to have me lie on my back and lift me up and down so I can do sit ups as well.  Very nice.  No thanks, too top heavy and too much work.  Let's just go for a walk and work off the calories that way.  Besides, when are outside, there is always so much to see and explore.

Water & Walking in the Rain

Walking in the rain and getting wet.  Nothing worse than having to go out when it's raining.  Yes, there is an umbrella over me and a raincoat on me, but I hate getting my paws wet. Yuk!  I always enjoy long walks, but on dry days.  When it's raining out, I can't wait to come back inside where it's nice and dry.  I know, should have learned how to use piddle pads when I was a pup.   Oh well, maybe it's not too late to teach old dogs new tricks and I should reconsider them?  I'm afraid I won't get these wonderful walks in if I do.
Yes, my feet are dried off and so is the rest of me if I get wet, but still, I like drinking water and looking at it, but don't want to be in it..  Still amazes me how some of these dogs like swimming.  Can't even imagine it, and if I could imagine it, I'd be in trouble.  I'm top heavy, forget about doing the doggie paddle, I would sink so fast.  Give me long walks on dry days all the time please.   Snort.
